Should Theology be considered in Presidential Politics?

Much debate, both written and verbal, has taken place over a comment made by Rick Santorum last week.  Santorum stated that the President had a “phony theology.”  This theology, he argued, affected the way the President has and will govern, saying it was “dangerous.”  This has led to a larger debate in the public eye of whether or not theology should be brought into consideration when choosing someone to represent us at any level of government. Many have said that to bring someones theology into consideration is inappropriate.

Verses that Provide Strength During Times of Grieving

Sometimes it is important to allow Scripture to speak to us during times of hurt.  I want to share with you a list of Scriptures that will provide Strength During Times of Suffering.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Cast Your Cares Upon God for He Cares for You

I normally don’t post much personal information on here other than what you can glean from the about page.  My goal from the beginning of this website has been that it be a resource for people. However, I’m going to stray some from that today.

This week has been a difficult week in ministry.   A major tragedy effected the church that I serve.  A young person, just 16, died in an automobile accident.  This meant that a family lost a son, girlfriend lost a boyfriend, classmates lost a classmate, friends lost a friend, teammates lost a teammate, and the family of God here lost someone they loved.

1 Peter 5:5-11: Submit to Elders and One Another, Be Humble and Vigilant

In 1 Peter 5:1-4 Peter addresses elders and exhorts them to shepherd well (read the article here).   Peter now addresses the whole church.

Admonition to the Younger

He begins with the younger.  Now younger here could refer to a group of people who are lesser in age, but also in context could refer to the rest of the church that does not fall into the category of “elders.”  Thus the apostle is either saying that younger (in age) Christians should submit to elders.  Or he is saying that younger (meaning all Christians not elders) should submit to elders.  I lean that he is saying the latter.  Either way Peter is continuing the theme of submission that is seen through the book (read here, here, and here) and telling a certain group of Christians to willfully yield their will to the will of another.

Will the Real Heretic Please Stand Up?-Part 3 What went wrong?

This is the third installment of our book review of David Bercot’s Will the Real Heretic Please Stand Up?.  At this point our goal is to represent the content of the book and in a later post we will evaluate the content. You can read about the doctrine and lifestyle of the early church here and here.

In this third installment I want to trace how, in the mind of Bercot, we left the faith represented in Early Christianity and came to the predominate views that are now seen in the Evangelical Christian world.
